Saco River

The Saco River provides ideal canoeing and kayaking for families. It’s wide and meandering, with a gentle current that flows by mountain scenery, sandy beaches, fishing holes, and rope swings, with nary a rapid in sight.

Northern Extremes offers several ways to get out onto the river, including three different guided trips between one and five hours, and rentals of canoes, kayaks, and tubes. Better yet, the company operates a continuous shuttle along the river so you won’t get stranded. Make a day of it with inflatable cooler and toys

Hike the White Mountains

There are a number of beautiful trails in the surrounding area. It’s a little hard to pick just one… the White Ledge Loop Trail is a 4.1 mile moderately trafficked loop trail located near Conway, New Hampshire that features a great forest setting. It takes about 3 hours round trip. It is recommended that you start your hike counterclockwise. When you finish you'll be glad you did. Bring water, snack and a smile. Another beautiful, but more advanced hike is Mount Chocorua via Carter Ledge Trail. It’s a 9.1 mile lightly trafficked out and back trail located near Silver Lake, New Hampshire that features beautiful wild flowers and is rated as moderate. The trail is primarily used for hiking, running, nature trips, and bird watching and is best used from May until September. Enter White Ledge Campground. The trail begins from the campground picnic area.

Kancamagus Highway

Arguably the most scenic drive in all of New England, the Kancamagus Highway, or “the Kanc” as it’s known by locals (but never the “Kangamangus”!), soars along rides and switchbacks through the White Mountains for some 35 miles between Conway and Lincoln. It’s breathtaking during fall foliage season, and spectacular any other time of year.

Several trails en route lead to short hikes and waterfalls. Just make sure to gas up before you go-there are no gas stations, restaurants, hotels, or other facilities along the road.

Main Street, North Conway

Main Street in North Conway features some go the best window shopping I have ever seen. From the famous Zeb’s, to coffee shops and everything in between. We recommend checking these shops out the same day at the Conway Scenic Rail, since they’re right across the street.

Treat yourself to some good food.

Northland Lobster Co.

This seafood wholesaler is one of our favorite places to grab a dinner for a big crowd on a special night. There is not a place to eat here, but grab some lobsters or other seafood and eat on the deck at Little Shore Lodge. It’ll be the best meal of the week.

Almost There

This restaurant down the road is a local watering hole. Usually popping, it has a very laid-back atmosphere and serves typical pub food.  Selling points include the juke box, steak tips, burgers, fries, and incredible live music on Friday nights.  In summertime, they set up an outdoor patio and bar that’s fun for a couple drinks and can get pretty crowded.

Fiesta Jalisco

One of our favorite Mexican Restaurant of all time. The menu is extensive, fairly priced, and everything we have tried is delicious. Our favorite is the Molcajete (#82 ). Definitely enough food for 2.. make sure to order extra tortillas!

Swim.

Pea Porridge Pond’s clean, fresh water, that warms quickly in the summer makes it an ideal spot for swimming. Many of our guests have told us that their little ones learned to swim here. For those “more experienced,” endless hours can be spent jumping off the dock and climbing back on the ladder. We want to see your best jumps! Tag us on instagram… @littleshorelodge

Fish.

Trout and smallmouth bass are among the wide variety of fish found in Pea Porridge. Fish off the dock, the shore, from a kayak or canoe, or any beach on the 3 ponds. Silver Lake Home Center offers live bait and tackles. Check out this website for what else to expect.

Boat.

Motorboats are not allowed on Pea Porridge Pond in order to protect the wildlife… something we actually love. It makes the kayaking, canoeing, paddle boarding, and paddleboating that much more enjoyable. And the wildlife that much more abundant. See if you can find our resident beaver and be careful near the Loon nesting grounds.. it’s one of the most sacred breeding grounds in New Hampshire.

Be sure to tag us in all your activities!! We want to see what brings our guests joy!
